This work took shape with the skilled terracotta artisans of Kutch, Gujarat; a pottery cluster known for their distinctive style of traditional Indian motives painted on functional objects of clay. A series of 12 Jharokha (niche) forms made and fired in traditional kilns with the traditional designs hand painted by the local women. the purpose of the project being to break boundaries of alienating craft from everyday life, of seeing design elements and emoting them into a creative practice for the artisans.
